If you already own cookware and want to check whether it will work on an induction cooktop, you can do a simple magnet test.
Looking to buy new cookware? See How to check if cookware is suitable for my stovetop
Do the magnet test
Place a magnet on the external base of the cookware
If the magnet holds firmly, the cookware is induction-compatible
If the magnet does not hold, it will not work on induction cooktops
Check base size requirements
Even if the cookware is magnetic, it must meet your cooktop’s minimum and maximum base size requirements to work correctly.
These requirements vary by model and can be found in your induction cooktop manual. Cookware with a base that is too small or too large may not activate the cooking zone or may heat unevenly.
Important to know
Flat, stable bases perform best on induction
Older cookware made from aluminium, copper, or glass will only work if it has a bonded magnetic base
If you’re unsure, you can send us the cookware details or a photo of the base and we’ll help you check.
